WHICH? CAMPAIGN :
BETTER PENSIONS

The Government, pension providers and regulators should protect people when they take money out of their pension by:

  • Establishing a Government-backed provider to ensure everyone can access a good value, low cost product
  • Introducing a charge cap for default drawdown products
  • Safeguarding savings in schemes that go bus

SHELTER CAMPAIGN :
SAVE OUR HOUSING SAFETY NET

Housing benefit is a vital safety net for people coping with a job loss, low wages, or a sudden illness. Cutting it will leave thousands at risk of homelessness.

The government needs to bring down ever-rising rents, not slice away help for struggling families and young people.

SAVE THE CHILDREN CAMPAIGN :
EVERY CHILD in the UK
READING WELL by age 11

Help us ensure every child in the UK is a confident reader by age 11. Reading is the key to unlocking a child’s full potential and one of the best routes out of poverty for our poorest children. But too many of our children, over a third of our poorest children, leave primary school without being able to read well.

FEDERATION of SMALL BUSINESSES CAMPAIGN :
KEEP TRADE LOCAL

Small businesses are the heart of the local community. They generate wealth, employment and opportunity. Using independent businesses on and off the high street brings growth and income to communities and celebrates the diversity that small independent businesses can deliver.

We are lobbying on the three Ps: Parking, Planning legislation, and Procuring locally

Why not think small first when you set off to the shops, when you want to employ a service, or visit a cafe? If we don't use our independent businesses we will lose them.

Together we can keep our high streets not just alive, but thriving.

DIGNITY IN DYING CAMPAIGN :
YES UNTIL THE END

Dignity in Dying campaign to change the law to allow terminally ill, mentally competent adults the choice of an assisted death.

  • Britain is recognised as leading the world in the provision of end-of-life care. This is largely thanks to the dedication and hard work of palliative care professionals.
  • However, the fact remains that some people do still suffer in the last days and weeks of their life.
  • Dignity in Dying wants to put an end to unnecessary suffering and give dying adults the choice of an assisted death.
  • With no option of an assisted death many dying adults are frightened about their suffering in the last days and weeks of life.
  • Some dying adults attempt suicide. Some refuse food and water to bring about their death. Many ask family members or loved ones to help them die. Those who can afford to may travel abroad for an assisted death.
  • All of these people are denied the choice of a safe assisted death in their own home, surrounded by those they love, at a time of their choosing.

The Assisted Dying Bill was debated on 11 September.
