More
information on engagement
People are passionate about
issues. That's great!
Some issues which concern them
directly - their street, their work, their lives.
Some issues which they care about simply because they
are important.
We campaign about all sorts
of things, some in our own interests, and some simply
becase they are the right thing to do.
More people are members of the
RSPB (1m)
than are members of all political parties combined
(650k),
and none of the members of the RSPB is a bird! That's
not being self-interested. That's just doing the right
thing. And we're pretty good at that.
But each of us separately isn't
making much impact on things.
The best ideas are getting lost in between the cracks,
and our politicians are so busy saying what they think
we want to hear that they aren't listening to us.
We need to combine our passions,
share our insights.
We need to use all our energies together, because
we can't do everything ourselves. Share the effort,
share our enthusiasm. It's infectious!
We need overall themes, coordination.
Things need to link up.
Ideas need to make sense together.
We need insight, not just assumptions.
We need objective, clearly communicated information
about what things really mean. |
